A budget for wedding flowers will vary. Nothing is wrong with having a budget. And being up front and transparent with your florist helps set boundaries and limits. After all, the sky is the limit with flowers!
Budgets help with planning, keeping track of your spending and how much you have left in your purse. How much should you allocate for flowers? Answers will vary, depending on who you ask. Some will argue 5%-10% of the overall cost of your wedding. Other’s may argue to keep to a figure and stick to it. It varies for each couple.
I personally think that the cost of your flowers will depend on number of individuals in the immediate bridal party, the style (or theme) of your event, whether you want something simple or bling glam, and whether you wish to style your ceremony AND reception/house. There is no right or wrong answer. It really does boil down to the individual.
Honesty is the best policy when it comes to money and along with sharing your financial limits with your preferred florist. It is best to be upfront and transparent as expectations vs reality can be somewhat of a let-down. Don’t be embarrassed on how much you want to spend on your flowers. Your florist needs to know what the limit is to be able to work out what is best for you, what is in season, and what your options are with styling.
